~1 pages of textWAYNE RAY WILBERG On March 31, 1944 I was sworn into the Marines. My mother attended my high school graduation and received my diploma. I graduated from marine corp. boot camp a few days later I served in the Marines 2½ years. I participated in the battle of Iwo Jima and Okinawa and the occupation of Japan. at Iwo They held us on board ship in reserve, 3 or 4 miles off shore. We did go ashore on Okinawa, April 1, 1945 Easter Sunday. the battle lasted 72 days After I was discharged on July 1946 I came home and attended Snow College. Due to my fathers poor health, I had to quit college and help him with the farming and cattle. Eventually I took over the business. I have been a farmer rancher ever since. I married Elaine Cox in the Manti Temple, September 16, 1949. We have four beautiful daughters. All have been married in the temple and have jobs in the church. They are all actively involved in sports. Our third daughter served a mission in Florida. We have 9 grandchildren; 5 boys and 4 girls. I drove truck and hauled coal for the church for 9 years. I was in law enforcement for 17 years. Elaine and I went to Germany to visit our first grandson when he was born. He is now 12 years old and 6' 3" tall and still growing. He is a super athlete.
