~1 pages of textWayne and Elaine Wilberg's Pageant History I was asked if I would build a dug-out for the first pageant three days before it started because another man that was asked to do it declined. I thought about where I would get the materials to build it with, so along with my wife, we went and tore down an old corral and used the poles and lumber to build the dugout. We built it in 100 degree weather. Elaine made curtains for the one window. She also decorated the fore-ground with a small picket fence and flowers. The first year I took the part of John in the John and Clara scene. For the next 14 years I was the narrator with a grandchild--Justin and Adrianne Bradley, Zachary Swasey, and Candace Nielsen (niece) all had turns to participate. The horses we rode were a matched pair. My family cleaned up the pageant grounds after each performance for four or five years. Elaine also helped with makeup for a few years. I donated much of the gravel that was used for the parking lot. This pageant has helped me honor and respect the people who went through so much to settle this Castle Valley. There are scenes that make you laugh and cry. The scenes from the Book of Mormon are fantastic. They tell that the book is true. The crucifixion scene is superb as well. We attend every year and invite and take others with us. Wayne and Elaine Wilberg
