Dad (Wayne) was at the house today and told me this info about the Wilberg Resort.

Dad was about 10 yrs old when he was working at the resort.
There were about 64 fox pens. One pair to a pen and each couple had 6 to 7 babies.
One of dad's jobs was to take care of the foxes.
Before the war – Carl Wilbergs family ran the resort – dance hall, hot dog stand,
swimming pool, zoo, fox farm.
Car bought about 50 wild horses. They would kill them, grind them up and feed to foxes.
Dad and LeGrand sometimes Kay and Janet would help. They would cook meat and add
to grain. It smelled pretty bad he said.
The foxes is what carried them thru the depression. They would get $600 to $900 for
each pelt. They would send them back east to a furrier.
They had to be very very careful when they dressed them out. Dad said they had to have
the button on their nose, eyes, eye lashes, feet, everything had to be intact, except their
insides were gone.
Kay took care of the foxes for a year or two after he got home from the service since he
was the first one back, the other brothers were still at war, but they ended selling them
all.
Russia had imported lots of foxes and drove the price down.

Dance Hall

Dad's job was to clean the dance hall floor. He would drag a bale of hay around the
cement floor to clean it up.
