1. How did you enlist in the military?
   I volunteered to be drafted

2. Where did you go to enlist?
   To the Emery County Courthouse

3. When did you enlist?
   Was sworn in on the 31st of March, 1944

4. What was the name of your group?
   MWSSE MAG 35     (MAG stands for Marine Air Force Group)

5. How long were you in the war?
   30 months

6. Tell what your name, rank, and serial number were.
   Private Wilberg, PVT (private), 828677

7. Do you still have your dog tags?
   I had two sets of them. I only got home with one set.

8. Where did you serve in the military?
   Served in the Marines at San Diego and Okinawa, Japan

9. What was your transportation to Okinawa?
   It took two transports to get there. The first one was the APA
   Laurence USS. It held about 1500 marines. I don't remember the
   name of the second transport. It took us to Okinawa.

10. Describe the day you landed on Okinawa?
    It was a calm day. The weather was good. There was no
    opposition. No shots were fired for 10 days. The marines went
    north searching for the enemy and the army went south searching
    for the enemy. The army found much of the enemy in the south
    dug in, up in the mountains in caves, etc. They would come out at
    night and fight.

11. How big was the island of Okinawa?
    It was 60 miles long and 30 miles wide.

12. What were the living conditions like?
    Just like a bunch of boy scouts camping out on the ground. Some
    time we would follow behind the army so we could use what they
    left behind.
